Nonsurgical Treatment

If the symptoms you feel are mild and there is no danger they will get worse, surgery is not usually recommended. For some patients, all that is required to heal and recover is time. Other nonsurgical choices include:

  • Medicine – Prescription pain medicines and antiinflammatories may reduce the inflammation of the nerve or ease the pain in the affected area.
  • Epidural spinal injection
  • Physical therapy – Physical therapy provides relief by strengthening your neck muscles and stretching the neck to reduce pressure on the pinched nerves.
